NOTEBOOK NO. 1
WHAT WE TESTED, WHAT BROKE,
WHAT CHANGED
EXP-006 · 12 OCT 2026SHIPPED
A new look, and a mark that means something
- AIM
- Make the site feel like a lab, and make the logo say what Day91 does.
- OBSERVED
- The old mark was the number 91 in a green square. It said nothing about the work.
- RESULT
- A new colour theme across the site, and a new logo: a curved thread joining a claim (purple) to its source (green), drawn as a D.

Ask Day91 only answers from what we've published
- AIM
- Let visitors ask about a company without inventing answers.
- OBSERVED
- A general AI search can produce confident numbers with no document behind them.
- RESULT
- The homepage search answers only from published issues. Every row shows its source and how far we checked it. If we haven't published on a company, it says so.
Try Ask Day91 →no source, no answer
EXP-004 · 12 OCT 2026METHOD
Publishing in minutes, not hours
- AIM
- Get each issue live the day it's approved.
- OBSERVED
- Issue 014 took more than two hours to go live because publishing was bundled with site fixes.
- RESULT
- Publishing is now its own routine: copy the finished issue files, update the issue list, deploy. Site fixes run separately.
one job per run
EXP-003 · 12 OCT 2026TESTING
Merging Battlecard and Compare
- AIM
- Both tools answered the same question: how does this company stack up?
- OBSERVED
- People had to choose a tool before they knew which view they needed, and switching meant typing the company in again.
- RESULT
- In progress: one Battlecard with a switch at the top, a competitor or its peers. Old Compare links will open the peers view.
same sources, same labels
EXP-002 · 12 OCT 2026FINDING
Only one large vendor's filings blame AI for job cuts
- AIM
- Check what companies' own documents say about AI and jobs.
- OBSERVED
- Oracle's 10-Q and 10-K name AI as a reason for workforce reductions. Block and Cloudflare say so in letters. HubSpot and Intuit deny it. Most say nothing.
- RESULT
- Published as Issue 015, a special edition: 10 signals, 29 sources, every one read in the document.
Read Issue 015 →read the filing, not the headline
EXP-001 · 12 OCT 2026FIX
Correction: NapoleonCat's 235% wasn't a price rise
- AIM
- Check a tracker's claim we had tagged C (no document) in Issue 013.
- OBSERVED
- NapoleonCat's own blog shows $139 is its Expert plan and $465 is where custom Enterprise pricing starts.
- RESULT
- Two different plans, not an old and a new price. Corrected in Issue 014, with the original claim left visible.
